This is the same publisher that did the Baby Animals Kindle book, which I was ecstatic about -- this one is good and really worth while, but not quite as special as the Baby Animals book. The pictures themselves are nice, and panoramic shots are fun - they are on at least 2 panels, so when you flip back and forth you can see how the penguins cover the landscape -- the nature facts are on "cartoon" pages, so you can easily find them when flipping through on a repeat read -- and there is also conservation and endangered species information -- so for a young reader it is fun to look at and also educational. Probably this one is for a slightly older age - maybe kindergarten age rather than toddler. Captions as to which penguin was which in the pictures would have been helpful -- but all in all, it's a good children's book on kindle -- I received this product in exchange for an honest review -- If my review helped you answer any questions, or allowed you to figure out if you should purchase or not, please indicate that my review was helpful :)
I loved National Geographic for a long time. The photographers they hire are some of the best in the world and that's why I read it.This book doesn't have a lot of words to read, it's actually mostly (90% probably) beautiful, adorable, interesting and often funny but very well shot pictures of Penguins. The pictures remind me of National Geographics from when I was a kid. Interspersed in these pictures are one page "features" of a cartoon penguin asking penguin related questions that also basically give the answer. So it's somewhat informative, but really the pictures are what make this such an enjoyable "read". This book was a very interesting book with tons of interesting facts, I enjoyed learning a few facts about penguins that I wouldn't have known before. The pictures were very exciting even for an adult. I know few people who love penguins and it was great thinking about them as I was reading the book. The thing that I did have a problem with about the book happened to be since it is a book written about penguins I was hoping the penguin breeds would have been labeled. I know some of the penguins correspond with the page before or after it but most don't so I don't see my child learning from the book as well as I would have hoped them to.*I received the product mentioned above in exchange for my honest and unbiased opinion*
This ebook is wonderful! And very engaging. I expected lots of writing and facts and not very many pictures. I was wrong, it is just the opposite. Every single page is a picture, most of the pages are real life photos. Every few pages is a cartoon picture with a simple fact about penguins. The photos are extremely clear and are amazing shots of the animals in their natural habitats. I am very excited to share this ebook with my preschool class next week when we learn about artic animals. This picture book is very cute for children. The pictures are great and the facts are educational so you can teach your child(ren) about animals and subtly convey to them the importance of wildlife and conservation. This book is a good length for a bed time story. One possible improvement would be too vary the image on the facts pages (they are all the same picture of an illustrated penguin ice fishing) and to ask questions to engage the children and spur thinking, such as "What type of penguin is your favorite?" This is a very short little book. Perfect for the short attention span of my four year old. The real pictures in this book are beautiful. The only thing that I don't like about the book is that the pages with the real pictures of the penguins do not say what type of penguins are on that page. A lot of the facts I already knew because of penguin documentaries I have seen previously. My four year old really enjoyed the pictures also. The other thing I didn't like about this book is that it seems to just end. This was a super cute book and I cannot recommend it enough for people who like penguins. While it is for kids, any penguin collector will find it worth their time to pick this up and to read it with their kids. I really liked it, and I think that "P is for Penguin" will be stuck in my head for the ABCs for life. Fun picture and word book to read with my grand daughter. Who am I kidding? I would ready it by myself...because I did! The pictures were beautiful! I love penguins. I was also very happy with how easy the font was to read. I have found this a problem with similar books in the past. The font in this book would make it easier for young and old a lot to focus on and read. Obviously, this font thing is a big deal for me. LOL. So I will be installing this on my granddaughters kindle that we keep for her at our house.
